New Web-Based
Tool Helps Conduct Vulnerability Assessments
A powerful web-based analytical tool that promotes security
for food manufacturers, distributors, and their allied suppliers
will soon be available from AIB International.
AIB
RED identifies facility vulnerability, helps you develop a plan
to minimize threats, and allows you to manage that plan in response
to incidents at your location.
AIB
RED’s adaptability is one of its greatest strengths. In
its simplest form, AIB RED guides an in-depth process of self-analysis
and correction that will quickly pay for itself at a single facility.
AIB RED has the range to manage multiple locations so that a
large corporation with numerous facilities can standardize its
planning and monitor a consistent and effective food defense
program at each location.
AIB RED helps you:
- Conduct a vulnerability assessment and identify possible
risks
- Devise defenses against these risks
- Develop a comprehensive food defense plan for a single plant
or for multiple corporate locations
- Monitor the progress of individual facilities
AIB RED determines
your vulnerability to outside threats using a list of more than
250 questions. AIB RED then analyzes your “yes,” “no,” or “not
applicable” answers to calculate risk, the probability
of an incident, and how serious the result might be.
This analysis is based on STRAEC Risk Methodology developed
for the chemical industry, one of the most vulnerable and highly
regulated manufacturing segments in the United States.
AIB RED integrates risk assessment, reports, checklists,
and management tools into a single high-tech product available
on the Internet. Because AIB RED can be updated in real-time
it will never be outdated. Only an Internet connection and password
are required to access all of AIB RED’s capabilities. AIB
RED’s security features protect your plan and data after
you create it.
After every facility completes its vulnerability
assessment, a corporate manager can use AIB RED to conduct a
cost/benefit analysis of suggested security improvements. For
example, if installing fences at each facility would mitigate
security risks, the manager could use AIB RED to compare the
installation cost against the perceived value the fences would
add to the corporation’s overall security, look at other
alternatives, and make a decision based on real numbers instead
of guesswork.
AIB RED also offers these features:
- Attach documents, spreadsheets, and photographs to AIB RED
as you work through the vulnerability assessment to build a
comprehensive evaluation and plan
- Build checklists to correct and monitor progress and procedures
- Adapt and edit the questions and categories in AIB RED’s
vulnerability assessment to the unique requirements of your
plant or corporation
- Add additional users as auditors and allow them to answer
questions, but without complete access to the system
- Review past audits
- Prioritize faults for corrective action
- Establish a baseline risk for each area of the audited facility
